Street Lighting... we brighten your life
The
Denison Municipal Utilities owns and operates all of the street lighting
for the community. In communities where the electric utility is owned by
an investor owned utility, the property tax payers must pay this cost.
When added to the other free services DMU provides City owned
facilities, it amounts to $250,000 or more per year.
This is transferred from DMU to the City's general fund. We depend on
our community's residents to let us know if a street light burns out. If
you notice a light out, please call 263-3046, our 24-hour telephone
number, to report it. You can also report the outage by e-mailing us.
repairs@dmuonline.com.
Usually we repair the streetlights on Friday's each week.
Rental Lights are offered on a monthly rental program. If you desire to
light an outside area of your property, contact us and we will set a
pole and provide a flood light the cost of which is conveniently added
to your monthly utility bill. You can view the rates for security lights
by clicking
here.
You can request a security light by E-mailing us at
info@dmuonline.com. Just
tell us who you are, and where you would like to see the flood light.
RiverWinds... green power
Green
Power is a term used to describe energy produced from a renewable
resource. Wind turbines are one such "green power" energy supply.
Electricity generated by the blowing wind is now available for purchase
from the Denison Municipal Utilities. RiverWinds is a voluntary program
that brings wind energy produced at wind turbines near Worthington,
Minnesota to Denison. RiverWinds is non-polluting green energy produced
by the blowing wind. You can signup and volunteer to help bring wind
energy to Denison. Interested persons should call (712) 263-1401 or
email (cmengwasser@dmuonline.com)
their consumer owned electric utility, the Denison Municipal Utilities,
to subscribe for a block of this wind energy.
The wind energy will be sold in blocks of 100 kilowatt-hours. The cost
per 100 KWH block is $2.00 over the normal cost of your electricity. You
may buy as many blocks of electricity as you desire. You will be billed
for the wind energy on your regular monthly utility bill.
The Denison Municipal Utilities and their energy partner, the Missouri
River Energy Services, brings this exciting RiverWinds program to you.
